Ninth Avenue to reopen in time for school

A blocked Williston thoroughfare should reopen by late August to coincide with the beginning of school.

Ninth Avenue West between 11th Street and the West Dakota Bypass is slated to welcome motorists and residents back before Aug. 25. The stretch affects access to residents' homes, the Williston Public School and New Public School District 8 Administrative Office, and Wilkinson Elementary School.

"We've done a minor revision of the water connections. We replaced 150 feet of water main," said Assistant City Engineer Bob Hanson.

"We've taken off the old surface this week ... The first of next week, we'll start with the base work. The following week, we'll do the concrete work. The following week, we'll start paving."

Northern Improvement is the main contractor on the project.

Affected residents are now parking in the alley, the Raymond Family Community Center or the Williston Community parking lot.
